Out West: James Dobson – First Confederate Touched

JAMES DOBSON

Known Touched Abilities:

James Dobson could generate a sudden strong wind that could violently knock down whole groups of men. To generate a wind, Dobson had to sweep his hand in a gesture towards his targets.

History:

James Dobson was the owner of a small Virginia plantation. Dobson eagerly predicted that war would erupt between the States. When Fort Sumter was attacked, Dobson celebrated and enlisted the next day in the Confederate Army.

Due to his education and formal military training, Dobson was given the rank of Captain and his own company to lead.

The Confederate forces were becoming demoralized in the Spring of 1982. Union forces were advancing against the Confederacy. Southern Victories were few. The reports of the Ghost Company beginning to be believed.

During the Battle of McDowell, Dobson was advancing with his men on a Union line. When his men began to falter in the face of enemy fire, Dobson stood directly in the line of fire.

‘You all afraid of these fools!” he yelled, gesturing at the line of Union shooters.

Suddenly, that line of shooters were blown back as if a hurricane wind had struck them. Many were knocked from the force of the blow.

Dobson gestured again, “See they’re afraid of a simple swing of my hand.”

Again, the Union forces literally were blown back.

Dobson then guessed that it was his gesture that caused the wind blasts. Following another gesture and another wind blast, Dobson knew he had become the South’s first Touched.

Dobson was killed in an artillery shelling during the Battle of Gettysburg in 1863.
