With the upcoming release of the newest gaming consoles, I thought I’d give guidance to any mysterious benefactors that might stumble across my blog.

I would prefer the Nintendo Wii above all others.

(And a second controller, please.)

Chapter 4 - Diplomatic Protection

(3) The present draft articles do not deal with the protection of an agent by an international organization, generally described as “functional protection”. Although there are similarities between functional protection and diplomatic protection, there are also important differences. Diplomatic protection is traditionally a mechanism designed to secure reparation for injury to the national of a State premised largely on the principle that an injury to a national is an injury to the State itself. Functional protection, on the other hand, is an institution for promoting the efficient functioning of an international organization by ensuring respect for its agents and their independence. Differences of this kind have led the Commission to conclude that protection of an agent by an international organization does not belong in a set of draft articles on diplomatic protection. The question whether a State may exercise diplomatic protection in respect of a national who is an agent of an international organization was answered by the International Court of Justice in the Reparation for Injuries case: “In such a case, there is no rule of law which assigns priority to the one or to the other, or which compels either the State or the Organization to refrain from bringing an international claim. The Court sees no reason why the parties concerned should not find solutions inspired by goodwill and common sense. …”

Digital SLR Article

My last camera purchase was back in 2001.  It’s a Canon Powershot S200 from the Digital Elph series.  It’s a great camera that took most of the pictures listed in the galleries.  It’s compact, quick to load, easy to use, and used Compactflash (a sturdy digital storage card that is not too tiny to find in a bag).

That other day, it failed to take a picture.  As far as I can tell, the feed from the lens is broken.

This could be the end of my poor camera.

So, I’m keeping my eyes open for new cameras.  I’m desiring two types - a compact digital camera for quick shots and a Digital SLR camera for more detailed / faux-artistic shots.

Here’s a link to an article on choosing the right Digital SLR.  It’s more for me than for anybody else.  Digital SLR’s are expensive and feature specific, so it’s really a purchase I should make for myself.

As for a point and click - I’m looking at the Canon PowerShot SD600 Digital Elph for a replacement.  It can be found for under $200 during sales.
